WHAT IS IT YOU LOVE ABOUT MUSEUMS? Their capacity to surprise and challenge. Oh and give you a little shelter on a rainy day.
BEST CHILDHOOD MEMORY? Happily, I have a few, but museum wise – every so often my mum would take me, my sister and two friends on the early train from Bolton to London for the day, armed only with an A-Z map and a packed lunch. Our first stop would always be the British Museum. I only realise now I’m a parent how very brave she was!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MUSEUM AND WHY? Way too difficult, so I’m going to fudge it and give you my current favourite – which is the Spectrum Science Centre in Berlin. It achieves a great balance between being interesting, interactive and beautiful. My museum holy trinity ⭐️⭐️
WHAT WAS THE LAST PICTURE YOU TOOK ON YOUR PHONE? A really odd door I spotted today, with a bikini clad woman posing above it.
IF YOU WERE TO CREATE A PIECE OF ART WHAT WOULD THE SUBJECT BE? Maybe something around the idea of home, belonging and migration. In my son’s short life, he has lived in three different continents, and my toddler daughter is already on her second. We all now live in a country where we do not speak the language. All very different to my rooted upbringing in a small Lancashire village. I wonder how it will turn out for them, especially with the rise of nationalism and insular politics in so much of the world right now.
WHO WOULD BE YOUR PERFECT MUSEUM BUDDY? Snoopy.
ANY PARENTING TIPS? Never ever think you’ve got it sussed 🙌🙌
